Team Building in a Virtual World

 In Relationship

Whether you are a business that has employees or a small business looking to outsource some of your tasks in order for your venture to grow, it’s always important to take time out for team building.

Team buildingWe’ve always stressed that communication is key in pretty much all forms of life and business.

Making sure that you can communicate with those around you that help and support you is of paramount importance.

Have you taken time out to spend building your teams communication, moral and motivation?

Even if you are a one-man (or woman) band business with your trusty Virtual Assistant by your side, when was the last time you did a little team strengthening? With technology as it is today, we don’t even need to be in the same room or venue to do this, although it’s nice to be able to do so if it’s possible.

We thought we would share with you our ideas on just how you can team build in a virtual world.

Build the foundations – Whether you work with one VA or two or three, it’s good practice to introduce them to one another. After all they are going to be your support network and if they are all reading from the same page, then they will support each other too. It’s about building firm foundations and knowing that everyone is working towards the same goals and objectives. It’s all about support and an obvious one…teamwork.

Video is as close to being there in person – Get your team together for a video conference and do it regularly. It’s an opportunity to catch up not just on the jobs in hand but also a little ‘water cooler’ chat. Take it as an opportunity to get to know the personal side of your team too. Their hobbies, their interests. Everyone wants to feel as though they have a life outside of work, in work and that they are not just performing the tasks and feeling a little disconnected from who they are working with.

Make time for motivation – Find out what motivates your team, what can you do to make sure your support network and of course yourself are happy with your business arrangement. Is everyone feeling as enthusiastic? Is anyone struggling and could use a little motivation or guidance?

These are just three tips we think contribute to successful team building in a virtual world.

Here at The Virtual Compass, our team would love to hear more of your thoughts and ideas or tips on how you yourself build your team.

Until next time…
